Hey Greg, welcome to Deep House London! How are things in your world right now?

Everything is quite cool and I’m really buzzing for what is coming next with many exciting projects.

How has it been getting back into partying and DJing again after the pandemic? What did you miss the most about it?

The come back was really crazy… I’ve been deejaying for more than 20 years, and that’s a special feeling and strong emotion to  get back behind the decks after so many months without playing music. Deejaying was something automatic, normal and this time  it was a new sensation. I had to chance to play a lot of party directly after the pandemic in my region and it was really good every  time…

Playing my music, sharing withe crowd and the public were the things I missed the most.

How much has the last year affected the music you have made, the style and sound of it?

It was a chance to have all this time in my studio… I approached differently… no real goal, no limit about styles… I got time and I  took advantage of this. For example I produced from afro tracks, deep or techno track, took the time to contact some singers to  made some vocal collaborations. I don’t want to limit my music to one style… I know it’s not the customs and codes of the  electronic movement at the moment… but I don’t care, as a deejay I play / produce many styles.

What was the motivation behind starting your own label? What are some of the best and worst things about running a  label?

Motivation was to create a crew, a family, the beginning of Way Of House was marked by the signature of Joris Delacroix who  became a really closed friend, and I run my label with Bastien Grine who I met and begun to play with in early 00’s…Best things is  to get everything under control, I know where I want to go, I know with kind of music I want and I don’t want to release…  Generate some new projects with my teams are always exciting from parties, releases or visuals. For example during the lockdown  in November 2020, I organise a writing camp at Campuget Castle near Nîmes city with 6 of my friends and woh producers, we  built 3 short-lived studio and made music locked up during one week, had good time, good diners and of course good wines…  we were only 7 friends making music, that’s special feeling to create all together during this long lockdown. We made a lot of  music and we will release it in 2022, on vinyl and digital : the casting producers was dope Wielki, The Dualz, Cebb, Joris  Delacroix, Essence of Time. Worst things are papers works !

What do you look for when you’re signing new music? Is it all about the sound or are their many factors that go into the  decision making?

Every time I ask myself if I could play it in my dj sets… that’s my guideline. After that, the sound/mixing have to be good, it’s really  hard to listen demo unfinished or spoiled by a bad mix. And a important thing, I look to the profile of the artist, the image that the  artist returns is very important for my decision, I have to project myself in order to be able to integrate it into our family. As today I  focus the label on 4 artists, The Dualz, Wielki, Cebb & myself we have to be all ok to get new comers.

Tell us about your new remix of Liza Flume’s ‘Hurt Me’? What made you want to revisit this single a couple of years after  it’s release?

I was watching at night a TV show on Netflix, suddenly I heard the track, shazamed it… directly as I had a lot of time I decided to  create my own version in my studio. At the beginning that’s was for fun… for my own dj sets, but after hearing the remix, my wife  and my friends told me : you have to release it, you have to share it… I finished the track, the mix/master and contacted Liza to  ask here if she’s ok to release it on WOH. I really want to thank Liza for believing in the project.

What are some of the key bits of gear in your current studio set up?

From some years I decided to simplify my studio environment and choose only a few synths hardware, my favorite weapon is the  Moog Sub 37, by his side the Virus TI, Roland SH-01A and the Minilogue XD. On my computer I work of Logic X, and I get virtuals  synths as Arturia Suit, Diva, Plysix, MS20, Spire, Sylenth1… and of course some plugs as Fabfilter or waves suits… classic.

How do you work, do you have an idea in your head you work towards or do you just experiment and jam and see what  happens?

It depends of the tracks… sometimes I enter my studio and I have an exact idea in mind, sometimes just jam, listen to music to  find inspiration… there are no rules.

Where is your best environment as a DJ? A small dark club or a huge outdoor festival stage? Late at night for the weirdos  or early so you can play slow and eclectic etc?

Again there is no rules, depends of so many details… I had as many good times in front of 300 people as in front of 8000… (I play  less often in front of 8000 lol) One thing is sure, since the pandemic I prefer to play outdoor, I really love open air event, feel  better and my favourite playtime is for the sunset, from the other hand it offer the opportunities to play various style of music, that’s  what I like.

What have been some of your career highlights to date and what are your aspirations for the future?

I had some legendaries residencies in club as Barlive or Dune in south of France. I’m playing for 22 years so I think about some  many highlights :

My festival anîmé in my hometown Nîmes

Cercleafterparty of Etienne de Crecy in Toulouse 2018

Nîmes arena with Viatlic 2019

Rex Club in Paris 2018

Family Piknik events 2019

United events in Montpellier

Kolorz festival 2015 in Avignon with Laurent Garnier and Maceo Plex

FIB Benicassim festival in 2008

Panorama Bar in 2009

For the future I only have one thing in mind : passion and pleasure… before the pandemic sometimes I was playing on some  event cause I was paid for, because it was my job… but today it’s totally different. I decided to take fewer dates to promote the  good gigs.

Valuing my sets has become important, and I work on it with a team now.

What else have you got coming up/are you working on?

As I said before I made many music, during this period. Two tracks collaboration are coming with my old friend CEBB, called  Versus On & Versus Two for November 19th, we will present it for Reunions Island Festival. Collaboration with my friends Wielki,  The Dualz & Essence of Time will follow in 2022. And of course I will releasing solo original tracks which will be released every  months in 2022!
