The EU’s drug agency<\/a> has\u00a0revealed\u00a0that the UK is tops in the continent in the use of Heroin,\u00a0Cocaine,\u00a0Amphetamines, and MDMA.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Drug use in the country\u00a0has been high for a while, and steadily rising. \u00a0A 2014 report<\/a> claims that\u00a0nearly one in three British adults have taken an illegal substance, and a fifth of those still do. 87% of the people who had taken drugs said that they had never had a problem with substances.<\/p>\n

Of the reports most startling observations are that Cocaine use is rising faster than in any other country while cannabis use is among the highest in Europe.\u00a0The proportion of Britons who admit using amphetamines is almost twice as high as anywhere else in Europe also.<\/p>\n

And legal highs also continue to flood in to the continent with 101 new substances reported last year, a rise of 25 per cent on the previous year, the agency said.\u00a0More than 450 legal highs are now being monitoring across Europe, according to the report, the EU\u2019s annual review of the drugs problem.\u00a0Reported use of such substances also increased by more than half.<\/p>\n

This, however, may not be a problem for long as the UK Government has\u00a0pledged a recent\u00a0crackdown on legal highs with proposed new laws to ban the supply and importation of the substances but, until then, it seems as though the UK holds the dubious distinction of Europe’s Drug Capital.<\/p>\n
