{"id":21596,"date":"2015-08-04T14:30:48","date_gmt":"2015-08-04T12:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.deephouseamsterdam.com\/?p=21596"},"modified":"2015-08-04T14:30:48","modified_gmt":"2015-08-04T12:30:48","slug":"relive-europes-illegal-90s-rave-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deephouseamsterdam.com\/london\/relive-europes-illegal-90s-rave-days\/","title":{"rendered":"Relive Europe&#8217;s Illegal 90s Rave Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Photographer Vinca Peterson spent the the better part of the 1990s\u00a0traveling around Europe, organizing illegal raves, and documenting them in photographs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Published in 1999, her book <strong>No System\u00a0<\/strong>documents these events, of which she describes as, <em>\u201cI was witnessing extraordinary events and living through situations that memory alone was incapable of recording in all the vivid detail. Photography became a way of storing images of the scenes which I could then use as aids to remembering.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the decade Petersen\u00a0cruised through Europe with her convoy of like-minded peers, organizing illegal music events, raves and festivals. She lived with her friends in old vans, buses or caravans, constantly searching for wasteland or abandoned buildings to set up their sound systems.\u00a0Petersen photographed the everyday existence of these communities.
