Watergate is one of Europe’s best known clubs now, during its 12-year-long history it has established an infallible reputation representing the finest in house and techno. One of the club’s main residents is Ruede Hagelstein, a man whose own history is filled with various endeavours relating to the music we all love. And he is the man behind this week’s mixtape, celebrating the forthcoming UK-run Meadows In The Mountains festival, which takes place from the 13 – 15 June in Bulgaria.

Ruede has straddled the worlds of design, editorial and DJing ever since he first got involved with music. He became editor at Flyer magazine in Berlin at the beginning of the 2000s, which helped to further cement his relationship with the city’s electronic music scene. Though he had experimented with music as a child, singing in a choir and playing both the flute and the guitar it wasn’t until he got hold of a computer and started to make music via software that he truly began to express himself musically.

As time went on he began to release his music and gradually became recognised as a respected musician. He joined the Watergate crew and his career has spiralled upwards ever since, most rceently he was responsible for the excellent Watergate 13 compilation.

Next month he be playing live at the Meadows In The Mountains festival, which is being held in Bulgaria. With a team of seasoned pros organising the event, it’s sure to be a killer festival – reports from last year’s event were all glowing, so there’s no doubt that this year it will be even better. Other names on the line-up include Maayan Nidam, San Proper (Live), Jazzanova and Moomin.
