Dutch producer-duo Polynation stormed the scene in 2015 with their lustrous debut EP Allogamy. Adopting both rhythmic tension and a wide range of acoustic and electronic tools, Stijn Hosman and Hessel Stuut gradually translated their intricate studio finesse to the more improvisational, spontaneous dynamic of live performance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tracks like \u2018Why You\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018Anther\u2019<\/strong> amassed wide international acclaim, earning airplay by Gilles Peterson on BBC6 and performing festivals like Amsterdam Dance Event, Best Kept Secret, Eurosonic and Pitch Festival. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In May 2019, Polynation<\/strong>\u2019s full-length debut Igneous<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0released on Atomnation<\/strong>.\u00a0The Amsterdam-based producer-tandem introduces a more cinematic, sweeping departure from the fine-tuned alchemy of techno, experimental pop, and ambient established on debut EP Allogamy<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hosman and Stuut<\/strong>\u2019s adventurous reciprocity of studio wizardry and live performance stretches across the peripheries of dance, ambient music, minimalism, and IDM<\/em>. The two initially bonded over melancholic chord progressions played on vintage synths and expressive electronic music. In the years that followed Hosman and Stuut have developed Polynation<\/strong> into an immersive multi-sensory live experience<\/strong>, indulging as much in sheer impulse and crowd interaction as the more intricate, widescreen arrangements.<\/p>\n

Across 10 tracks, Igneous<\/em><\/strong> fortifies Polynation<\/strong>‘s ambition to mold sound \u2013 both acoustic and electronic \u2013 into a powerful narrative pulse. Expanding the course established on debut EP Allogamy<\/em>, the duo was heavily inspired by both the unruliness and unblemished beauty of nature. As film composer and video artist respectively, Hosman and Stuut consolidated Igneous <\/em>with some cogent visual elements.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Igneous<\/em><\/strong> became the product of two laborious years of studio tinkering. During these sessions, Hosman and Stuut were less preoccupied with translating their music to the stage, and more with letting their imagination and production values run rampant. Ranging from Kosmische majesty to more cavernous, nimble propulsions, Igneous<\/em> is a kaleidoscopic aural journey, entertaining that strangely comforting notion of human-made structures surrendering their stark geometries to the unremitting blossom and decay of organic life.<\/p>\n
