We spoke to her recently to hear more about her recent single \u201cLet You Go\u201d and how it came to be\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hey Romi, how are you, what&#8217;s good and bad in your world so far in 2022?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hey, how are you? Everything is pretty good in my world. We finally had Music Week here in Miami so it was great to reunite with everybody again after the pandemic. I just released a new track \u201cLet You Go&#8221; and my parents are visiting right now so can\u2019t complain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did you first get into dance music, when and where?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I got into dance music at an early age when I used to live in Prague. I remember my first time going to the club Roxy when I was 14. I used to listen to artists like The Prodigy, Carl Cox, Josh Wink, Fatboy Slim, Moloko, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was the scene in Prague like, did it have its own sound?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I lived there at the time, there was lot of underground club parties. Techno, House, Downtempo and Drum and Bass were popular. We had our own Czech club scene magazine called Tripmag, later Xmag. Every issue came with a CD or compilation from International or Czech artists like Dj Trava, Josef Seldom, Ladida, Michael Burian, Orbith, and more. I bought every single one haha.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What took you to Miami? How different is life there?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Honestly, I just wanted to get out of Prague, go to USA, explore and improve my English. First, I lived in Orlando when I started Djing and then moved to Miami for bigger opportunities. Miami is a great place to work and so much going on all the time. I like the warm weather and the beach. I still go to Prague a few times a year to spend some time with my family, especially over the summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Has it impacted your music style and what you make and play and buy?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, when I started Djing I actually started on Hip Hop and open format so America was a good choice at that time since USA has a huge Hip Hop scene.<br \/>\nThen I slowly switched to Dance Music. I was at this party where James Zabiela played and it totally brought me back to my European roots and House music. I haven\u2019t looked back since. The EDM scene is pretty big here but nothing like in Europe.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1229736013&amp;color=%23fcdcf4&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;show_teaser=true&amp;visual=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about your new tune for Championship Music &#8211; what inspired it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let You Go was actually made during the pandemic so it has darker vibes to it. I have been listening to alot of Melodic House and Techno lately so that\u2019s where the inspiration came from. Its is a Dance track but you can hear arpeggios and some typical Techno sounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who did the vocal, or is it a sample? What was the aim with it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The vocal isn\u2019t a sample. We recorded it in the studio. I just wanted something simple and catchy that fits the vibe of the track.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you feel a weight of responsibility as a female in the dance music industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes absolutely. A lot of times I feel like we have to work twice as hard to get recognised and respected. It is very male dominated industry so there is lot of pressure. I\u2019m happy to see more females breaking through the Dance scene lately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who did you look up to? Who were your role models?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have always loved music since I was a little girl listening and dancing to Michael Jackson in front of the TV all the time. I went through music fazes growing up from Rock to House to Hip Hop but one person I used to look up to was Fatboy Slim. I remember his epic set at Brighton beach for 250000 people?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is representation important do you think, so young people of all backgrounds, ages, races, colours, sexualities and religions can see themselves on stage and aspire to be the same?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes absolutely. Music is a universal language. In every culture, every country, and every background, you will find music. Music brings people together in peace and harmony.
