The truth is that I don’t think I have something bad today in my world. I think it has to do with points of view. Everything happens for a reason and I believe that something good will always emerge from what momentarily seems a little worse.

The good thing, I think is trying to enjoy each moment as much as possible, no matter how small it may be… I didn’t always succeed, clearly, but I try

Tell us about your journey into dance music, when did you first fall in love with it?

I consider that music has always been part of my life. Always since I can remember, the music fulfilled the soundtrack function. When I was dating, when I was sad, and when I was happy, I always associated myself with a band or a track, or a song that gave more meaning to those moments. From that point, I feel that it has evolved and it is the medium with which I can communicate, but above all, feel those emotions in my body.

How different is the music you make and play and listen to in summer vs winter?

I guess the fact that it’s cold makes me go out less, which means you spend more time in the studio. And that probably makes the tracks more charged and more energetic. Probably with sadder or darker notes too. And although my musical style is not one of the happiest, in summer the productions are lighter.

Are you thinking about the audience, the dance floor, a certain club, or the setting when making music?

Sure, of course. Firstly, I look for melodies or sounds that generate something for me, and secondly, to transmit this and it is usually on the dancefloor. The way sound travels on the dancefloor is different. the low end is important, and the bass and the middle sounds (which in my case are important) require a special mix. And these two things make what you want to transmit reach the audience in an effective way.

You have some new tunes on Freegrant music – where and when did you write them and what was the aim?

Yes, I released a new EP called Scorpio. This production is no more than 5 months old. I was lucky with Freegrant Music, which as soon as I listened to it gave me the ok for the release.

The truth is that my current search is to mix darkness and energy, with calm and sentimental melodies. and this EP achieves that.

What gear do you use currently, does that matter to you?

I currently produce with Live and some keyboards, which is what I find most effective. It seems important to me to incorporate synthesizers that always achieve a different sound.

What is your signature sound, what do you always like to get right when producing?

As I said a little earlier. Dark sounds with melodies, but always clean and defined. I always look for emotion in some sections of the tracks. Until I feel it, I can’t consider it finished, and I think that’s what happens when you listen to my music.

What is next for you after this interview?

A year that was very intense in a positive way is coming to an end.

I consider this past year is the closing of a stage that we all lived through that was very special and mobilizing and that reconnection is coming next year. Very nice things are coming in terms of releases in the first months and also gigs to continue growing.

What has been your top tune of the year?

In this sense, the one I liked the most is Vision, which, although it will only be released in February, meant a lot to me in terms of the evolution of my music. They are one of those tracks that I listen to over and over again and I feel that it will be very significant as a guide for the coming year for my production.

What is the most important lesson you have learned in your career so far?

I think that the most important thing is to concentrate on making the music that you like, that surely there will always be an audience that likes it, instead of trying to please with things that do not fill you up so much.

Follow Axel Giova on Soundcloud / Instagram / Facebook

“Scorpio” EP is OUT NOW EVERYWHERE

GRAB IT HERE

Hey Axel, how are you, what’s good and bad in your world?
