How many people are involved in kabana, what are their roles?<\/strong><\/p>\n Apart of the waiters, engineers, cooks, bartenders and floor managers we have an operational manager in charge of the general operations and events, a music director booking all artists, events, lights and sound and coordinating all shows, one artist manager in charge of all visuals, light and laser shows, developing all kind of new techniques to make the experience more unique and two F & B managers (one in charge of cuisine and the other more focused on mixology and drinks).<\/p>\n What makes the place so special, what inspired its design and sound?<\/strong><\/p>\n Definitely the location in the middle of the jungle and the mix of sustainable bamboo architecture combined with high tech (laser shows, 3D mapping, holographic experiences and top quality L Accoustics sound system.<\/p>\n Whats the music like, what informs the bookings and who are they aimed at?<\/strong> How much do you use local musical talent, local companies, staff and production and is that important?<\/strong><\/p>\n Indonesia is a huge country with more than 200 million people and here in the small island of Bali we are lucky to host the country’s biggest talents. So half of our resident DJ team is local from all around Indonesia. They are musically very talented artists and by collaborating with international DJs every day they improve day by day and concerning the ethnic touch we are aiming for, they have a lot to teach us.<\/p>\n What advice do you have for anyone coming to the area for the first time?<\/strong><\/p>\n If you are in Bali you probably heard that the island is famous for its fancy beach clubs. But they are a bit too mainstream and cheesy. If you really want to have a unique experience then come to one of our amazing jungle parties. You will never forget them. Beach clubs are all around the world and they are all pretty much similar. Come visit Kabana!<\/p>\n Is there a music scene locally, or are you trying to start one?<\/strong><\/p>\n In most of Asian capital cities the music scene is very mainstream and predictable. Bali has always been more eclectic and creative. It’s the result of Bali’s melting pot of cultures. But we are really developing something new on the island. Organic house and we really plan to give to our releases a very Indonesian traditional touch and spread and promote this culture world wide<\/p>\n What sounds are popular in Bali?<\/strong><\/p>\n The local crowd is more into RnB and EDM but underground genres like Afterlife inspired melodic techno or progressive house are starting to become huge here as well. And then the western community which is big in Bali brought of course house music, deep house, indie dance, afro house, latin house or nu disco. By the years we educated the local ears as well to quality underground music and we are very proud here to enjoy very mixed dance floors and party together with the locals. I traveled a lot and very little places have locals, expats and tourists spending nice time together.<\/p>\n Do you consider the environmental impact of the venue and the tourism it brings? is that offset in anyway ?<\/strong><\/p>\n As we are in the middle of the jungle we are of course concerned with environment. \nOur music policy is strictly inspired by the environment. We are a non-urban venue so the jungle is our best music director! Electronic music of course (we are a party place) but we keep it very organic and ethnic. Organic house (we are about to launch a new organic house music label called K Club Music and we plan to release tracks from this genre’s best artists), Afro house, Arabic house, tribal, melodic techno etc… Every music genre that makes a good party but keeps an ethnic and mystic touch and makes this jungle experience unforgettable. The crowd we are reaching are open minded, cosmopolitan globetrotters fascinated by nature and world cultures but still in need of quality cocktails and food and exciting dance floors packed with beautiful people.
