In this interview, he unveils the inspiration behind the techno-infused masterpiece and reflects on the evolution of his sound, shaped by associations with labels like Innervisions and Disco Halal. As the owner of Frau Blau, Kadosh shares insights into the label’s future, teasing releases from top-tier artists. With nods from Dixon, Âme, Solomun, and Damian Lazarus, Kadosh discusses the influential support shaping his artistic journey whilst his global DJing experiences, from Tulum to Ibiza, reveal a dynamic approach influenced by diverse environments. Delving into the remixes of “Samurai,” featuring Hannes Bieger and Tom Pooks & Sebass, Kadosh unveils the intriguing stories behind these collaborations in the latest interview.

Congratulations on your latest release ‘Samurai’ on Family Piknik. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind this track and how it came to be? – Thank you so much 🙂 Well, I wanted to create a track with a bit more of a technoish angle with slight Detroit influences, but still keep a modern melodic feel – “Samurai” is the result.

Having been associated with labels like Innervisions, Live at Robert Johnson, Crosstown Rebels and Disco Halal, how do you feel your sound has evolved over the years? – I like to produce and play a wide range of different genres and types of music, so I more or less allow myself to do what I feel at the time as long as at the end of the day my signature remains there.

You are also the owner of your own label Frau Blau, what has releasing on other labels taught you when managing your own and what’s next for the imprint in 2024? – Fortunately, I got to work with many big and very professional labels that are well managed by great artists, so it made me learn about professional and strict work and refining the label’s sound and creating a signature. In 2024 we will have some great releases from a variety of excellent artists such as Upercent, Yet More, Cioz, Stimming, Sam Shure and a few more surprises that I will leave you to discover for yourself.

Your music has caught the attention of renowned DJs such as Dixon, Âme, Solomun, and Damian Lazarus. How does the support from these influential figures impact your artistic journey? –It always helps to have big names play your music and expose you to more audiences that haven’t been exposed to your music yet, so I’m grateful to have artists like that playing my music.

You’ve played in various global locations, including Tulum, Ibiza, and London to name a few.
Do different audiences and environments influence your approach to DJing, and do you have a favorite place to perform? – Of course. I strongly do not support the play your set at all costs approach. I believe that music changes depending on the climate, day, weather, location, etc. It is natural that what I play in a basement in London will not be played on the beach in Tulum and vice versa.

The remixes of ‘Samurai’ feature contributions from Hannes Bieger and Tom Pooks & Sebass. How did these collaborations come about, and what do you appreciate most about their interpretations of your track? – Hannes Bieger is a respected international artist, and to get a very different approach to my original version, I asked the label to invite him as he played their Family Piknik festival last summer and I knew they were close. I’m glad he accepted the invitation because the remix he did works great on the dancefloors around the world. Tom Pooks is Family Piknik’s founder. This remix is the first statement of his new alias Harmonik Kontrol he’s building up with Sebass.

How do you see the electronic music landscape evolving, especially in your field and where do you see your own contributions fitting in? – The electronic music scene is developing in a rather commercial direction, but at the same time gives a lot of options to young artists which keeps it somewhat positive. I think my contribution to the scene comes with my artistic angle as an artist who is still identified as less communicative or commercial, and also, my contribution to the development of young artists through my label Frau Blau.

What’s next for Kadosh? Any upcoming projects, collaborations, or plans for live performances that your fans can look forward to? – This year my music will be released on labels such as Live at Robert Johnson, Komapkt, Nervous, Poker Flat, Human by Default and more, including collaborations with good friends such as Magit Cacoon, The Drifter, Fedele. In the performance sector you can find me in the coming weeks in London, Mexico, Paris, Saint Martin, Luxembourg, Athens, Stuttgart, Lisbon, Singapore, Berlin, Limassol and more.

DHA speaks with Kadosh, the visionary artist behind the latest track “Samurai” on Family Piknik.
