She shares the diverse influences that have shaped her unique sound and gives us a glimpse into the inspiration behind her latest release, “Mandala” .

1. “Mandala” has a captivating spiritual theme. Can you tell us what inspired you to create this track and how the concept of a Mandala influenced your creative process?

After my release of “Tuvan” which included throat singing I was looking for more ethno ideas and the chant came along and I instantly loved it. In 2022 I already released a track called Dualism which is also a spiritual concept. I think I am quite a spiritual person.

2. Your sound draws from influences like Stephan Bodzin, Innellea, and Adriatique. How have these artists shaped your musical identity, and what elements of their work resonate most with you?

Stephan Bodzin and Adriatique really influenced me a lot. Stephan Bodzin in a melodical way and Adriatique how they are creating grooves.

3. You’ve been supported by major names like David Guetta. How does it feel to have your music recognised by such a global figure, and what impact has it had on your career?

First it felt kind of surreal to me. I remember as a teenager dancing to his tunes and now he played my song on his radio show.

4. “Mandala” is described as a blend of depth and euphoria. How do you balance these two elements in your production, and what emotions are you hoping to evoke in listeners with this track?

That is exactly what I felt when I finished the track and renamed it. It had a different working title before. The depth of the track goes hand in hand with the euphoric chants, drums and the uplifting drop melody. The break part has this deepness with a building energy. I thought that “Mandala” would be the perfect match for the music.

5. Your journey from sound engineer to DJ-producer is unique. How has your technical background influenced the way you approach music production?

Sound is quite important to me. How my mix translates to different speakers and surroundings, but it is not all. It is quite a difference when I am working on my own production or for a client. On my own tracks emotion and feeling is more important to me. What kind of emotion is my track bringing to the table and how do people resonate with it.

6. You’ve released a single called Archetype as well as Circularity which was featured on a Harthouse compilation. What’s been the most defining moment in your career so far?

My release on Harthouse was something special to me. A label with such a history is for a newcomer something really special.

7. In the ever-evolving world of melodic techno, how do you stay true to your sound while also pushing the boundaries of the genre?

What I personally figured out is that everyone is copying and copying and copying. After my first releases luft&liebe – label of my partner Thomas Helmich, he told me: “Risk something, what feels good is good.” So I moved on, tried to sound different and started to use vocal chops instead of stabs. First reactions from friends have not been all positive but it felt right to me, so I tried and my track Posthuman did well.

8. “Circularity 2024” and your EP “Infinity” both received positive attention. How does “Mandala” differ from your previous releases, and what new creative directions did you explore with this track?

Mandala is way more epic. I wanted to try a cinematic approach. Big field drums like in “DUNE” and creating depth without the usual instrumentation.

9. How do you translate the energy and emotion of your studio productions into your live DJ sets? Do you approach them differently?

Studio is sometimes analytical and sometimes pure emotion. Live is more emotional and how the crowd resonates with my tracks.

10. What’s next for Plasmatique? Are there any upcoming projects, tours or collaborations we should be excited about? I am doing some shows in the south of Germany next.

A lot more music is on the way, I am looking forward to sharing with the world. Thank you for having me!

We sat down with Plasmatique to explore her captivating journey from early musical training to becoming a rising star in the electronic music scene.
