Ascribing his DJ name to the translation of ‘rich lake’, Berlin-based Baikal provides a mix to showcase his multi-layered sound. It’s one best described as electronic music for the heart, mind and feet.
Known for the various outstanding remixes he’s done for names such as Ian Pooley of Innervisions or Isolee of Tamed Musiq, his musical mindset is best portrayed on his original release for Maeve (a collaboration between Mano Le Tough and The Drifter). With enough experience in the studio, behind the decks, and gigs across the hotspots in Europe, USA and the UK – Baikal delivers a philosophy easily heard in his mixes.
He recently released the Pelican’s Flight EP as a two tracker on May 20th, marking his return to Maeve, the label he co-founded alongside Mano Le Tough and The Drifter. Baikal’s existence lies in the idea that the music itself, the abstract experience and the emotions it provokes should tell enough of a story to entertain you as the listener, and that the persona behind the artist is of lesser importance.
