A couple of weeks ago we reported on a rather interesting development in London, where there were raves being held not at night, but in the morning. The party starts at 7AM and the visitors can enjoy nice music, dance, meet people and drink fruit juices (without the additional alcohol), before heading of to work or college. We were wondering whether the successful concept would spring over to other places and we soon heard that this was actually already happening in Amsterdam..
Next Wednesday Doetje Dansen, the organization behind intimate and out-of-the-ordinary events in Amsterdam is hosting its second edition of ArbeidsVitaminen after a great first edition. What to expect? Well just like in London, the doors open at 7 in the morning (at a venue in the centre of the city) where there will be a DJ playing funky deephouse and disco records for you to dance and wake up to. There’s also a juice and coffee bar and of course there are sandwiches and croissants to fuel you up for a hard day’s work.
One of the key aspects of ArbeidsVitaminen is to give starting DJ talent the opportunity to show their skills in front of an audience. This ranges from pure record spinners to artists that set the bar a little higher and actually collaborate with vocalists or instrumentalists in their set. The most important rule, however, is that all the guests are dancing and having a blast. For next week, Jesse Jazz will be laying down the beats during the event, which lasts two hours until 9AM. And then, hopefully, the crowd will be on their way to follow their daily lives again. We’re guessing it won’t be as easy for everybody..
