Michael Mayer is one of the leading tastemakers in dance music and his DJ sets have influenced a generation (or two) of musicians and fans.
Taken from his third full length, the collaborative project “&,” ‘Und Da Stehen Fremde Menschen’ is built around a vocal sample from long lost East German band, Stern Meissen, it’s a track that calls for some weird but volatile sounds bound in the fury of a techno blizzard. Fellow Cologne conspirator Barnt was tapped to help bring Michael’s idea to life.The longtime friends share a musical history and taste, along with a love of twisting established musical norms.
Here, former Trouw resident and Kompakt crew member Patrice Bäumel remixes the track, turning it into a deep disco flavoured house jam, that builds in gentle pealing waves to a brooding, floor filling crescendo.
