The newest edition of our mix series comes from a true legend, who has been dropping Disco and Funky House beats since the 80’s. Rahaan was part of the best House parties House music’s (and his own) birthplace: Chicago, where his talents brought him from the underground milieu to international clubs and events.
It all started with the Chuck Brothers, which was how Rahaan and his dance crew were called. After picking up and moving to Wisconsin he began building a significant collection of Disco and House records, which gave his career the next necessary push. After moving back to Chicago, Rahaan’s career really took off. In Chicago, he played The Spot and at infamous loft parties, which opened the door for his residency in the Budda Lounge, one of Chicago’s hottest night clubs back in the day.
In 2000 he started producing tracks and edits and, what started as productions for his personal collection, quickly gained attention. Fourplay Records signed him and his first track releases ‘Coming Hard’ and ‘No Time For Love’ were released on the label. Further releases on labels such as Stilove4music, Lumberjacks in Hell, Disco Deviance and more followed.
Listen to this mixtape and you will know why Rahaan’s skills stand out from the (packed) crowd. Expect a few Disco and House bombs and plenty of retro gold, mixed as only one of Chicago’s legendary DJ’s can. Also, if you want to catch him live he will be performing at Georgie´s Wundergarten in Amsterdam beginning of July.
