Nigeria’s DJ Obi has broken the record for world’s longest DJ set with a 230 hour (yes, that’s 10 days!!) set in Sao Café Lagos.
The previous record holder was Polish DJ, Norbert Selmaj aka Norberto Loco who through down at Dublin’s Underground Temple Bar back in 2014. DJ Obi’s set began June 22 and will ran till 11:30pm on July 2. Now, DJ Obi wasn’t spinning the entire time as he was allowed 2 hour breaks daily in order to catch up on sleep but, as the following quote shows, perhaps that wasn’t nearly enough:
I woke up hallucinating after 4 or 5 days and had lost full control of my body…I used the loss my father as an inspiration, constantly thinking to myself that my Dad was watching me and would be disappointed if I failed.
Obi was also allowed daily medical checks and vitamins also.
