At the beginning of 2013, a collaboration was initiated between two DJ/producers of considerable and off-centre qualities. Their names are Jonny Cruz and Silky. Together they are disCerN. The chemistry between the two is instantly recognisable when you hit the play button to this very first Subjekt Podcast.
Both chaps already have extensive experience in the studio and quite some releases under their belt. Jonny’s music has been released on underground institutes My Favorite Robot and One Records. Silky’s tunes have been dropped on imprints like Off, Suruba, My Favorite Robot and Nurvous to name a few. When the two met they instantly formed a musical bond and began collaborating heavily in the studio together. After a few sessions they realized they were onto something and decided to create an alter ego for themselves and thus was born disCerN. The name was created out of its meaning, to recognize something, something that happened immediately after they clashed heads in the studio together.
They almost instantly signed singles to Lee Burridge’s Get Weird label, to Michael Tello (PillowTalk) and Ray Zuniga‘s imprint Touch Of Class Records and they have done remixes for Lower East and Faceless Recordings, as well as a an upcoming remix on Asylum Condifential. The boys have also been able to earn themselves a nice monthly residency at the popular FDR at Delano in Miami.
disCerN has also planned a release on Subjekt Recordings, a promising new label that will begin releasing from the end of March. Other than Jonny and Silky, more great artists are lined up for drops on Subjekt: Eric Volta, Luis Leon and Tim Paris are just a few of them. So make sure to keep your eyes on this new player that is set on making some big waves in the near future.
