Italian manufacturer Audio Deva has presented a new turntable design meant to maximize sound quality while minimizing weight and unnecessary components. Dubbed the ATMO SFERA, the platterless turntable utilizes a more advanced physics-based approach to construction by, essentially, eliminating the buzzes, noises and muddiness in the audio range, as well as the weight associated with previous attempts at elimination. In order to achieve this, however, Audio Deva have used a light platter, low-torque motor and (almost) free floating record.
