The 21st century reproduction of the decades-long industry standard for vinyl DJing is promised to contain “new elements at every level,”. The “stark, utilitarian” aluminium design is made with the SL-1200 and the SP10 in mind.
“Turntables are a very iconic product for the Technics brand,” says Michiko Ogawa, director of Technics, in a quote from WIRED. “It is important to show our sincere dedication [to that]. The turntable market is very small but it is a very important brand product.”
Technics discontinued the production of the turntable series in 2010. The design is not finalized yet, the turntable as shown in the photo is a prop used at IFA.
