A few weeks ago, we learned that something called the “Electronic Music Awards And Foundation” (EMAF) existed and was airing its Grammy-esque award show on Fox sometime in late April.
Though marketed as the “first” award show for electronic music, perhaps a better approach would be the first televised award show, the EMAF has now announced the nominees in each of their, suitably redundant 7 categories. Amongst the categories are your standard Album and Single of the Year, as well as accolades to Best Festival and Best Club. There’s not much insight into the nomination process and what exactly constitutes a “Best DJ”, for example but in the EMAF’s own words, the surely scientific process: “[The nominees] reflect dance music trends on a global level bringing together DJs, producers, clubs and brands that represent a wide range of genres.”

It isn’t all grim new though. Amongst the slew of Calvin Harris, Skrillex, and Diplo‘s are a handful of underground favorites and, dare I say, respectable name: DJ Harvey, Dixon, and Carl Cox, amongst them.
The show promises, “to honor electronic music legends as well as the biggest acts of today, spanning “electronic music’s leading artists, creatives, executives and visionaries…”, assumedly with performance announcements and more production specifics to come. It airs in the US on FOX, Saturday 23 April at 8pm EST. You can check out the full list of nominees below:
