Is This The Loudest Consumer Speaker In The World?
A French audio company, Devialet, is set to release its “Phantom” model home speaker, claiming sound outputs upwards of 4500w/108db (Phantom Gold), roughly the volume of a live concert.
The Phantom is a plastic and kevlar shell housing aluminium speakers, whose stray vibrations are minimal, thus yielding undistorted wavelengths. The technology on display has been dubbed as an “active cospherical engine loudspeaker” and is marketed as an all purpose audio tool, allowing it to power anything from an iPod to a home cinema system effectively. With two speakers emitting sounds in multi directions, and a low end technology that allows it to punch through the over wavelengths, the wireless speaker trio’s ultra dense sound is meant to not only play sounds but to create intense emotional experiences.
There are a few other handy features that comes with the Phantom series, like its “Dialog” mode, where, up to, 24 speakers can communicate with each other and the Devialet intelligence hub, altering the listening experience accordingly. Also, it employs to “Spark” app that combines all the the music on your devices or those of your friends’ connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Of course such an item doesn’t come cheap, with the starting price set 1690€ for the Phantom, increasing about 1000€ for the Phantom Silver. The Gold standard Phantom is yet to be released but is surely going to cost more. If you think the Gold Phantom is for you, then sign up and be amongst the first to check it out.
