Brian Harrison and Martin Kasall became acquainted with each other all the way back in 2012, while exchanging musical ideas which materialized in diverse subsequent projects. This interaction gave rise to the creation of the alias Brigado Crew. This peculiar stage name derives from the word obrigado, meaning thanks in Portuguese. As they fervently believe in gratitude, they judged it wise for their artistic name to bear a reference to thankfulness, whereas the word ‘Crew’ is intended just to convey that there is more than one talent working as part of a team.

Throughout their career, Brigado Crew have released their music on several dance music labels worldwide, such as ‘Stil vor Talent’, ‘Katermukke’, ‘MoBLack’, ‘Jeudi’, ‘Sincopat’, ‘Solar Distance’, ‘Chapter 24’, ‘Suara’, ‘Stripped Down’, ‘Lost On You’, ‘Eleatics Records’, ‘Stereo Productions’, ‘Toolroom Records’, ‘Glasgow Underground’, ‘303Lovers’, ‘Suruba’ and ‘Ultra’. In 2017, they released their first single, ‘Zulu’, on Solomun’s renowned label, ‘Diynamic’. ‘Zulu’ climbed the Beatport Deep House chart all the way up to number one and held its position for over twenty days. This single was played by the most outstanding exponents of said musical style, such as the likes of Solomun, Âme, Oliver Koletzki, Black Coffee, Acid Pauli, Seth Troxler, Matador, Magdalena, Andhim, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, among others.

We caught up with Brigado Crew to talk about their latest release “Unknown Lifeform”, influences, studio setup, and more.

Hey BC, how are you, what’s good and bad in your world right now?

Hello hello 🙂 Well bad is the poor situation we are facing all around the world. It’s unbelievable how many people are getting richer and richer and how other ones are dying because they dont have something to eat. Honestly i is terrible!!!!! On a more positive note, the good thing hmm this is harder haha, maybe the chance to get connected with people all over the world just simply to make a call nowadays and connect with everyone you want immediately.

Tell us about the vibe and aim of your new one “Unknown Lifeform” on your label Symbiosis?

In this track we aim to focus on our new sound, and we made this track especially for the launch of our label. We create everything, even the idea of the cover. We are fascinated with the idea to combine things that are happening now and what is going to be the future for us.

What gear did you use to make it?

We don’t have too much expensive gear, we use more add ons to get the sound we want and find it more important than stuff.

Does that matter, are you a gear head or mad about geeking out on that stuff?

For us it doesn’t matter. Of course it’s nice to have much stuff for collector people or someone that feels better with it, but honestly we feel better with a laptop and a synth to run whatever we want.

Tell us about how you have bought nature into your music and why that is important?

Well as we said before, we trust a lot in combining what’s going on nowadays with life, and that’s why we want to add the nature thing in our music and label identity.

What else inspires or influences you – movies, dreams, what?

Dreams 100% are one of the best things we have with each other (Brigado Crew) is that we love to talk talk talk and discuss about everything you can imagine. So usually we have long talks walking into nature (forests, parks, etc) and from there is where the ideas comes. We started like this the label idea, covers, etc.

Who did you look up to? Who inspired and influenced you coming up in music?

Pfff many many artists from different scenes. We love to read interviews or see them about rock bands for example Queen, The Police, The Cure, Pink Floyd. How they get into their sound, how they succeeded with what they want. And about electronic music we strongly follow advices and what they did from their career from artists like: Hernan Cattaneo, Oliver Koletzki, Eric Prydz, Stephan Bodzin, Adriatique.

What else have you got coming up?

This year will be fully in music. We have upcoming releases in Stil vor Talent, Radikon, and of course in Symbiosis!!

What was the last record you bought and why?

Adriatique, Eynka – Beyond us (Hatshepsut Extended Version). We loveeeeeeee this track and we are playing it nowadays in our sets all the time.
