Firm friends and confidantes since their days working at independent label Gee Street in the ’90s, Fetisch, better known as Berlin DJ & Producer Terranova, and renowned Brixton based group Stereo MC’s are redefining their musical relationship with the launch of their highly anticipated new imprint: connected.

After the recent success of their collaborative Kompakt single ‘Tell Me Why’, the crew realized the potential in their collaboration and ‘connected’ was born.

The focus of the new label will be quality releases, distinctive artwork, original videos, custom apparel and live performances as well as being an outlet to combine and cultivate the tastes that the musicians share.

‘connected’ is an entity where the partners can do anything they feel, make cool packaging, put other people’s records out, do great merchandise. It’s a concept for how they always saw all the labels they’ve been involved in.

With that, we continue our new series here, and in conjunction with Deep House Amsterdam, highlighting some of our favourite labels from around the world, we thought we would catch up with Stereo MC’s and get the scoop on all things ‘connected’. Here, you will find information on the burgeoning label’s history, ethos, releases and future. As you can probably tell by know, we are asking each respective label rep the same questions. With this approach, we hope these showcases will be as educational and informative (for all you aspiring label heads out there) as they are entertaining.

“No disappointments so far, just challenges to overcome.”

What does Connected add to the dance music spectrum?
The combined individual taste and experience of the 3 founders Terranova and Stereo Mc’s connected is not so much just a label more an experience, with hand stamped vinyl, ltd edition merchandise strong personalized visuals and, of course, great music.

When did you first think about launching Connected
We teamed up with Terranova at the beginning of 2015 for their track ‘Tell Me Why’ featuring Stereo Mc’s (Kompakt Records) and the strength of feeling of having achieved a sound that was fairly unique led into wanting to work on more tracks together, which in turn led to the idea of forming connected.

When did Connected actually launch?
October 21st 2015 at No 74 shop in Berlin the launch was celebrated with the release of connected 001 a limited edition sweat shirt and T shirt in a hand stamped bag with a USB contaning a connected mix.

Story behind the connected name?
Of course the name connected comes from a song of ours we made some time ago called ‘Connected’ which seemed to have a lasting meaning and also relates to the 3 of us and the length of time we have know each other and our working relationship through the years.

What was the most difficult aspect of launching the label?
Once we had been offered a distribution deal with Kompakt distribution, the hard work was really setting up the website and mechanism and basic framework for who does what, from admin to artwork.
