With an ever-growing festival market not showing any immediate sign of a decline, it’s become far more important for promoters and brands to evolve to acclimatise with the times. Reaching out to the growing demand for more diversity and originality with our options has become vital and an important topic of conversation. One such market is the cluster of young family friendly events, to cater for the youthful parent families and their flock.

Backyard Sessions, a novel Swedish day time party brand in Malmo, Sweden, is one of the forefronts of this fresh market. With a growing reputation for quality lineups, amongst an assortment of food and game stalls, their debut festival weekend to celebrate the end of summer was one we were keen to check out for ourselves.

The weekends line up was packed with established techno acts like ANNA, Claptone, Sonja Moonear, Recondite and Tensnake, amongst more hot upcoming talent like Ilona Maras, Andrea Lonardo Martini and Flowjob, so musically we were in for a treat. Surrounding the main stage were plenty of activities for all the family. Mini-Golf was on offer, as was a boule pit and bouncy castle, and an abundance of arts and crafts stalls to keep the kids occupied. This while the eager parents would take it in turns to hit the main stage and join the ravers 🙂

A beautiful festival in a relaxed environment with plenty to offer for all the family, Backyard Sessions gets our vote, and one to watch for the future for sure!!
