Cave Studio are an Italian duo that is quickly making moves in the international music industry with its unique and authentic sound. After their massive 2021 track “Shake The Dice” was a big hit everywhere, they have now made a remix package that features SUBSHIFT, Heider, & PEACE MAKER!.

We caught up with them recently to find out about why they decided to release a remix package, and also what currently inspires their sound…

Hey CS, how are you, how has your 2023 been so far?

Hello to the entire Deep House London team! It’s been a fantastic year so far, with our workload steadily increasing each day and with many new goals achieved. We’re truly relishing this experience, especially as the gigs are getting more frequent and we’re releasing really good tracks. We couldn’t be happier with the road we are on.

Why launch a remix package of your single “Shake The Dice”?

We strongly believe that “Shake The Dice” is one of our finest productions, and it has garnered significant success. So, after brainstorming with the crew, we came up with this killer idea to celebrate reaching (and surpassing) one million streams of this track. We wanted to take it to the next level and to further enhance its value, lead us to the idea of creating an official remix pack.

How did you choose who to ask?

The artists selected for the remix pack are actually close friends of ours, and we’ve developed a strong bond with them, especially in recent times. That’s why we were absolutely thrilled to have them remix our track.

What do you make of the results, is it odd hearing your original sound different?

Honestly, at first, it felt a bit unusual but also intriguing to see how other artists could take our track and reshape it with their own ideas. It’s fascinating to witness how they can create something entirely different from what we had originally thought. Moreover, having our own remixed track gives us the opportunity to add a creative twist to our sets, blending the original version with the remixes. It’s a great way to infuse some variety and unique flavours into our performances.

What makes a good remix do you think, are there rules to it – how much you must or must not change for example?

In the past, we’ve had the amazing opportunity to remix various songs, including Matroda’s “Gimme Some Keys” or Cloverdale’s “Watch That Tongue”. When it comes to remixing, our only rule is to let creativity and passion guide us. Each artist has their own unique style, and as you can see from the remix pack, the only thing they have in common is the vocal element from the original track. This allows each remixer to showcase their creativity and put their own unique spin on the song.

How does it feel to have had such success with the original?

Like many great things, it all happened unexpectedly. We didn’t have real plans or expectations before releasing the original track. It was a series of various circumstances and combinations that sparked a trend, and from there, it started to resonate with everyone.

Does it affect things next time you go in the studio – do you want to try and repeat the trick for success?

It’s not easy to maintain a trend, but as we reflect on our journey, we can see substantial growth on the production front. Our ability to produce numerous tracks demonstrates this improvement. It’s essential for us to have a solid foundation from which we can continue to enhance our work and carefully select the best tracks to strive for perfection.

What inspires your sound – other music, tv, dreams, people, emotions?

Our main passion lies in rediscovering forgotten old songs, mostly from hip hop or similar genres, which serves as a primary inspiration for us. From there, we unleash our creativity, pushing the boundaries of musical rules, and striving to perfect the desired sound. We enjoy challenging conventions and exploring new possibilities, all in the pursuit of creating unique and captivating music.

What else have you got coming up this year?

We recently had the opportunity to play at Nameless Festival, the biggest one in Italy, and it was a real honour for us to be able to perform there, but you know, it’s always an unpredictable journey. We have a substantial amount of music ready and lately we’ve been experimenting with self- releases combined with effective promotion, and we’re pleased to see the positive results. It’s undeniable that this could be one of our potential future moves in terms of releases as we continue to evolve and adapt to the industry’s dynamics.
