Hi Sanchä! Thanks for joining us today. How’s your summer been so far?

Hi mate, it’s a pleasure to be here with you, although I’m Spanish, I’ve been living in Argentina for 7 years, so now we are in winter and it’s time to “enjoy the freezing cold” by producing at my home studio and playing at the clubs. Almost every year I come back home to enjoy family, friends and the music scene, so I hope this year I can return to Europe to enjoy some good weather and outdoor music.

Congrats on the release of your new Dream Hunter EP on Family Piknik. What was your inspiration behind this record?

I usually like to work with references, either from artists I admire, songs that transmit my emotions, or sounds that I connect with… For Dream Hunter I wanted to create a solid EP that had catchy tracks with aggressive and rhythmic leads and others more organic and emotional… That’s how I shaped the different grooves of the 3 tracks.

Now reviewing the project I see that I used to inspire myself with artists like Lexer, Moonwalk, Heîk, and Massano… I also see that in the development of the Ep I had some catchy Leads and sounds that I discarded for this EP but that sounded brutal… so why not a second part of the EP? ;P

How did you first get into music production and DJing?

Music has always been present in my life, since I was a child I studied and played music with different instruments. I have always been playing and producing music, although of other musical genres.

My relationship with electronic music as a producer and DJ is recent. About 6 years ago I started training in production and Djing, learning everything from sound design, rhythms, structure, mixing and mastering, vinyl mixing, and live performances… and then when Sanchä was born. Today I keep developing my sound and growing step by step in the music scene every night/club.

Growing up, what were some musical influences that shaped your taste in music?

Hmm, what a good question, what a nostalgia to remember those bands and music that I used to listen to as a child…

On the one hand, at home, we listened to a lot of pop and rock from the ’80s and 90’s… bands like Queen, ABBA, etc. that I remember very fondly.

On the other hand, my musical training in brass and string instruments influenced my love for orchestral music and punk-rock, which are disparate and distant styles, but nevertheless, they contributed to me equally.

My relationship with punk rock was quite intense. For some years I mostly listened to Punk-Rock bands like Reincidentes, EUKZ, Boikot, Kaotiko (fast and furious music, with intense bass and guitars with a lot of distortion), and Californian Punk like The Offspring, Blink 182… (much more melodic). Hence I would say that my love for melodic techno was born; dark,  hypnotic but melodic music.

What does your studio setup look like?

Today my studio is the minimum that you can have if you want to dedicate yourself to this. A computer with my favorite DAW and VST-s, some good-sounding speakers (in my case the KRK 5), and good headphones (in my case the DT 770 PRO 80 OHM). I know it’s not a spectacular Home Studio, and although I’ve had some other synthesizers, nowadays it’s what I work with, which makes it easy for me to move my studio from one place to another while I keep working on my music.

From time to time I go to my colleagues’ studios to “play” with their synthesizers…which I love, the touch and sound that comes out of those “toys” is unmatched.

Can you mention some of the instruments and plugins that make up your trademark sound?

I really like deep brass sounds with lots of harmonics and distortion and also short sounds with characters for leads. It’s more about how you do the sound design than what to use, but of course, what you use has an influence on this purpose.

For drums, I usually use XO and samples from different libraries. For Leads and atmospheres, I’m using a lot Knifonium, Dune, or others like Diva and Serum although the sound of the Minimoog will always be one of my favorites.

How do you define success? Is it about the numbers or is there more to it?

I was recently told that more than where you get to, you have to ask yourself how you get there, and I think that’s how I am taking and want to take this profession. In two ways, in how I arrive in terms of my attitude toward others, from respect, collaboration, and honesty; and how I arrive with myself, since I am the first one who has to have fun and like my music and every time everything in a club…otherwise it makes no sense. It doesn’t mean that numbers are not important, but I will try not to make them my driving force, only a kind of coordinates that are good to know but that I don’t have to be obsessed by.

Now that Dream Hunter EP is out, what is next for Sanchä?

Now I’m in that beautiful time where you share the music you’ve been working on for a long time with the public. On June 23rd my track “Mistery” was released for Symbiosis label in a VA with other great artists, now this amazing EP Dream Hunter is out with 3 originals and two great remixes by Matara and Javier Portilla and soon will be released a Remix I’ve made to Joe Fisher called “Intelligence” for Moonchild Records label.

These last months, I’ve been working a lot in the studio so I have 9 unreleased tracks that I’m already testing on the clubs ready to send to labels, and I keep working on new ideas to turn them into EPs. I hope you’ll hear more from me soon.

Thanks for joining us today. Is there anything else you would like to mention before we go?

I hope to see you soon in some European clubs, infecting the clubbers with my sound so that we can all have fun on nights full of magic, feeling, and dancing. Until then, do not stop following me on my social networks and all streaming platforms.

See you soon!
