Subb-an: Five Gigs I'm Looking Forward To | Interviews

Subb-an is a busy touring DJ, who also drops the odd live performance, always coming correct with his techy house flavours. He’s also a dab hand in the studio and is definitely always very impressive, whether’s it’s in the booth or busting out fresh new music. With another hectic summer of gigs ahead, we asked to list five gigs he’s really looking forward AND a little summer playlist… no doubt both were a tough call, but he did it and here’s what he had to say.

2020 Vision Day And Night – London:

It’s always great to play with mates and the venue for this looks sick – some old public baths in Hackney Wicks. Ralph Lawson has always supported what I’m doing and the 2020 parties are always fun to play at. This will be the last gig of a very busy weekend so I will definitely be in party mode when I hit 2020 in London. The party is also organized by the same crew that runs the Tobacco Dock events and having played there many times I know that they NEVER go wrong. We also just got the good news that it’ll be a sponsored event so it’s now free for everyone, just need to sign up on a guest list on their website – can’t go wrong with a day party on bank holiday weekends.

Ibiza!

It’s very hard to say which gig I’m most looking forward to in Ibiza this year, all I know is that I think they are all going to be so good. I have a busy schedule there this summer, I will be at Circoloco again, playing at Amnesia for the first time for Cocoon as well as Enter and El Row at Space. I’m getting pretty excited for the island this year.

One Records/El Row – Barcelona:

We’re hosting the beach area at Row 14 during Off Week this year, I played at this venue a few weeks ago and it’s such a good space! The energy is very unique and it’s always a great party. It’s a tradition to have our showcase during the Sonar week but it’s usually on a much smaller scale. This for sure is up there with the events I’m most looking forward to in the coming months!

Garden Festival – Croatia:

Last year one of my favourite experiences was the Garden festival in Croatia. It’s a small festival on the beach during the day and all the after parties take place in a club called Barbarrella. It’s an amazing open air, terrace venue out of town and this year I‘ll be playing there with Adam Shelton, Craig Richards and Seth Troxler. If you can check some videos from the last few years you’ll get a glimpse at how special it is. It reminds me of Ibiza a couple of years back when all the terraces were actually outdoors. It’s a proper family vibe festival surrounded by good people so this is a highlight for sure.

Extrema Festival – Belgium:

I also get pretty excited about festivals I’ve never played at – this year will be my first time at Extrema and it really jumped out from the rest as one I’m excited to check out. I had a look at the pictures and the line-up and it looks like it’ll be pretty special! It’s a shame I will be in and out and won’t have the time to see everything but I will have to make the most of it. Having played Fuse in Brussels before I know that it will be a very decent crowd.
