Hey Grayson, lovely to meet you!!

Likewise! The pleasure is mine!

How did you land the role as the lead dj for the Fifa World Cup? What does it involve?

A high school friend asked me if I wanted to be a Floor Manager at the FIFA Arab Cup 2021. His dad works in Venue Entertainment. They needed DJs too. So, I asked if I could do that instead since it’s my job. Two weeks later, I was on a plane to Doha. I DJ’d in the stadiums like a nightclub. FIFA liked my sound and invited me back as Lead DJ and Music Director.

What was your experience like as the dj and music director for the 2022 Fifa World Cup? What did you learn from it?

The experience was incredible, and it was a lot of hard work. Curating music for all the countries and fans was rewarding. Producing match protocol music and making special edits was also fun! I learned to work with efficiency. It took my full attention. Playing in sold-out stadiums and in front of billions on broadcast gave me confidence. I realized that anything was possible.

How do you approach creating music for such massive global events?

I begin with my favorite stadium music. Many people love these tracks, which have achieved commercial success. I also include my own edits. I would explore the football culture in each country. I’d find out which songs players and fans enjoy.

What has been the most exciting part of working with Fifa?

Performing in front of so many people from different backgrounds and cultures. It made me a better DJ.

What are some of your favourite cities or venues you’ve performed at?

My top 3 for thus far are Los Angeles (SoFI Stadium), Mexico City (Plaza De Mexico), and Doha (Lusail Stadium).

How has your Canadian background influenced your music?

Canadians love to have a good time—dance, sing, and hang with your crew. My Canadian optimism definitely shapes the sound of my sets. I’m all about “having the best night of your life”.

What’s been the biggest challenge in your music career so far?

The break of releasing original music from 2022 to now. I took a few years off trying to build a sound unique to me and my experiences, and it felt like I was falling behind. I’ve put in a lot of hard work and built an amazing team. Now that the machine is starting to run, we can have a significant impact on culture. The possibilities are endless.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be?

Great question, I love Post Malone— he’s such a great guy and an incredible artist. We’d have the most fun creating and performing together.

What advice would you give to aspiring djs and producers looking to break into the industry?

Prepare to sacrifice nearly everything; achieving greatness requires significant effort and determination.
