Legroni is a Georgian DJ/Producer who also runs the label Zoom Zoom Records that creates a unique sound in the modern world of electronic music, filling it with light and bright colours. We caught up recently to chat about his upcoming “Hot Hot” EP on his label and how it came to be…
Hey Legroni, how are you, what’s good and bad in your world?
Hi! Everything’s fine, hope you’re well too! Everything around is fine to be honest, one positive and kind attitude.
Tell us about growing up and getting into dance music – why did you love it?
I grew up in a Georgian family and my family and I often sang Georgian chants with different voices. In the future, I decided to transfer this harmony of sounds to my tracks, and the electronic world is very multi-faceted and gives huge opportunities for creativity.
What styles did you love at first, why did you want to dj and produce?
I am a music lover and I love everything that touches the soul, music that makes you think about the past, about the present, about the future and takes you to another world. I took up this case because I wanted to share my emotions with the world.
Where does the impulse to create something come from for you? What role do sources of inspiration like dreams, other forms of art, personal relationships, politics etc play?
To be honest, when I turn on all my kids “synthesizers”, I abstract myself from everything that happens and immerse myself as much as possible in my beloved world.
Where is your best environment as a dj? A small dark club or a huge outdoor festival stage? Late at night for the weirdos or early so you can play slow and eclectic etc etc?
My music needs a lot of people’s souls. When they begin to connect with each other, it is very strongly felt energetically, vibrationally. So, I probably like the place more, yes when there is a combination of the two 🙂
Tell us about what inspired or influenced the release “Hot Hot” on Zoom Zoom Records, where you started on them etc?
To be honest, I again create a certain world on my label and release all the tracks I write only here as I want to build up my label and the brand. I find inspiration all around me from nature and everyday life, and then try to channel those ideas into when I get in to the studio.
What gear do you use in the studio make your music and does that matter to you?
The more opportunities for achieving goals in your head, the better! For the most part it’s a microphone, a moog 37, a prophet 6 and recently acquired a waldorf and I’m very happy with it
What else have you got coming up/are you working on?
A lot of delicious tracks are waiting for you at Zoom Zoom Records. I am burning with the idea of creating music that will be close to absolutely different people, everyone can find something of their own.
