The wait is over! Panasonic has unveiled the design to the new Technics SL-1200G Turntable.

The long awaited piece of hardware is described by Panasonic, to “redefine” the direct drive turntable, and is the companies first detailed product from the hallowed line.

Technically, the SL-1200G includes a retro-styled aluminium top plate, but also comes with a redesigned, “twin-rotor surface-facing” motor and more sensitive tonearm, insulator and brass turntable platter. Pitch ranges of plus-or-minus 8% or 16%, and records can be played at 33.3, 45 and 78 RPM.

The “Grand Class” SL-1200GAE is available this summer, and the SL-1200G will comes in the fall. Find more information on both at Technics website.

Update: The price for the new SL-1200 be $4000. A piece, that is.
