We have a very special mix waiting for you, made by a highly skilled German DJ/producer. His name is Sidney Charles, and at the age of twenty-something he already looks into uncountable happy faces when he enters the DJ booth. He is not a musician, nor a percussionist. He is a collector. A collector of culture and experiences. The energy and feeling around his collection of music is what makes the difference and letting Sidney Charles not be one of many, but one of those special few. “Everybody, who understands this love-binding kind of music, has to live the urban movement behind it, the culture that brings people of all kinds together.” Exactly these motions are fascinating the young man, born as Sidney Charles Hurricane Vieljans in Hamburg.
At the age of 15, Sidney Charles discovered the magic of the two black discs spinning on his Technics 1210’s.
At the beginning Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Breakbeat and Turntablism was Sidney´s medium to express his emotions. Highly delighted and inspirited by the time of late 80s and early 90`s, when the movement, accompanied by young culture began, Sidney Charles was finding the higher BPM-numbers of House & Techno were leading to even more inspiration and happiness. And so it began. His sound has brought him all across Europe, Russia and even Argentina. Production-wise there are a lot of promosing signs as well, since he already has quite some EPs and remixes under his belt for imprints such as Material, JEUDI Records, Suara and VIVa MUSIC Limited.
We’re happy to announce Sidney will be visiting Amsterdam on February 15th, when he will be playing at the magical Wonderland Festival, hosted by Verknipt and Deep House Amsterdam. It will be a crazy thrill-ride where nothing is what it seems, and everything is possible.
