February will host two important musical dates for indie electronic acts, as right after the recent announcement of Bonobo’s new tour, the news went down on The XX marking the new dates of their upcoming tour, that reaches Amsterdam on the 13th of February.
Few moments after Bonobo announced his new concert tour dates for the upcoming album Migration by releasing it’s first new single Kerala, landing him in Amsterdam’s concert institution and a former church Paradiso on the 20th of February, tickets were fully sold out. Unsurprisingly, considering the enormous fan base and the habits of this far ahead planning society, minutes matter when it comes to this announcement: The XX is coming to the Dutch capital’s Heineken Hall with their new European tour on the 13th of February.
Produced by Jamie XX and Rodaidh McDonald, who both worked on all of the bands albums, I see You will be their first anticipated release after four years. The band announced the release date to be the 13th of January, sharing their first song On Hold on the 10th of November.
The track features melancholic lyrics and vocals from both Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft, which largely samples “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)” the 1981 hit by Hall and Oates.
Thus it can be easily speculated Jamie would stick to the sampling technique when producing the upcoming I See You release. Since when producing Jamie is known as a notorious fan of this technique, prominently applied in Jamie’s album In Colour. His sample use throughout the whole album has been beautifully (though not entirely aaaall precisely) broken down in this video of a Brazilian youtuber.
