During a fire that occurred last night on Camping Bloemendaal in Overveen, the entire inventory of popular beachclub Woodstock was burnt down.
Around 7pm, monday January 18th, a fire broke out on the parking place of the camp-site. During winter time, the site is used as a storage unit for the complete inventories of the various beach clubs and bars situated on Bloemendaal beach. A spokesperson of the local safety authority has given a statement saying: “The other containers could saved just in time. Sadly, the storage container of Woodstock went up in flames.”
The owners of Woodstock, which is a much-loved summertime haven for countless Amsterdam people across all ages, are said to be “shocked” by the fire, said the spokesman. One of the owners told him that there were “years of work that went into the inventory collection of the club. Most of the stuff comes from all over the world”.
A fan of Woodstock has set up a crowdfunding campaign to support Woodstock financially. You can donate here.
More information on the consequences the fire will have on the club and its summer program will follow soon.
