Last year, around this time, Amsterdam was introduced to a new winter festival. It was one of BIG proportions, bringing together different crowds and styles of house and techno. They created a vibe that was larger than that of a good party; there was something more going on that night. There was a state of Valhalla.
Next week, on Saturday December 21st, the organization is back for their second edition, ‘Valhalla, A Bizarre Ride’ which will again take place in the only venue that can handle the ambitions of an event like this: The Amsterdam RAI. The RAI will be turned into a 1920’s-styled circus. Expect a lot of crazy acts happening all around you like acrobatics, wild stunts and of course some good old peep shows where freaky curiosities will be displayed for your eyes only. And now for the best part, the line-up. Like last year, every effort is made to get the finest DJs together, from Amsterdam stars to international headliners. Divided over eight areas, each stage will have its own specific style and setting. For instance the prestigious Orchestra Pit will cover Solomun, Kölsch, Tensnake, Tom Trago and TEED. Or the Cotton Club, where the house sound will be on the heavier side, by the hands of Space Dimension Controller (UK), William Kouam Djoko, De Sluwe Vos or Dekmantel Soundsystem. There’s something for everybody’s liking and this is what makes Valhalla such a cool place to be. Because next to all the extravagant sideshows, the different sounds attract music lovers of all sorts and brings them all together under one roof, sharing the same goal: to make it one of the most insane and memorable parties of the year.
With a little more than one week to go and remembering all the excitement and the atmosphere of last year, we’re ready for this special second edition. So start picking out your most bizarre costume, dust off your toughest dancing shoes and walk the crazy, glittered path to Valhalla. See you there!
