Vinyl and Vinyl are the exact words that best portray our next mixtape invité d’honneur. Traditional and well accommodated with the underground scene, the Frenchman Alexis Benard or Seuil is alluring crowds in his minimal micro tech or dubbed out house tracks throughout his sets. Regardless of the record, the vibe on the dance floor is one that many could only wish for. As for his part in the international DJ circuit it’s worth mentioning Ibiza’s DC-10 and the Half Baked parties in London, where he is also a resident, to give you a clear understanding of his characteristics as a DJ.
Seuil takes the same minimalistic approach into his productions. With well over 10 years of producing and DJ-ing under his belt, his sound stays innovative while trying to push musical boundaries; keeping away from trends and having a forward thinking attitude, he’s established himself as one of the leading underground producers. Records on distinctive labels such as Minibar, Circus Company, Hello Repeat, Ultrastretch and many more only underline the fact that he’s into quality rather than quantity. Part of a misty collaboration with his good friend Le Loup, they have a bi-monthly residency in the infamous Parisian club Rex where they implement their own touch of sound under their alias Hold Youth. 2014 marks the year when they’ll finally offer the world a glimpse of their LP, which from our knowledge is a tolerant series of tracks ranging from house to techno to hip-hop to experimental and everything you could think of that’s in between.
Elko is Seuil’s own label where he puts in practice the same attitude as behind the decks or in the studio. Attracting avant-garde producers like Le Loup, Cristi Cons, Robin Ordell, he’s always on the search for that perfectly saturated sound that can be played time and time again.
He’s currently under the wings of Lola-Ed which is the foremost respected artist managing agency in France at the moment. They currently take care of names such as Apollonia, Chris Carrier, Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom, Jef K, Shonky and labels like Apollonia Music, Elko and Hold Youth. The agency is developing its own unique niche in France by supporting innovative artists that share the same passion for something different, “a true carnival spirit handled by talented DJ & Producers”. So far they hosted events at Sonar Festial, DC-10 and have a standing relation with London’s Half Baked nights.
Without further a due we like to present you a mix that’s a bit different than you’re used to. It’s an enchanting musical journey that takes you deep, deep into the underground. We love it, we hope you do too.
