Jay Shepheard and fellow Retrofit imprint producer Yooj have ventured into a new collaboration under the name Two Scoops. Their debut EP, which is vinyl only, will be released by the end of this month. On the flip you’ll find this track, ‘The D Word’, and you can download it here for free to get a taste of what these two guys have come up with.
Following an extensive background in the dance music scene, from working in music PR and several years working at UK online music store Juno, Jay Shepheard first arrived on the scene as an artist some years ago with the release of his debut EP “Black Label 19” on Compost Records.
With the help of strong DJ support the EP gave Jay good profile straight off the bat and was built upon nicely with the follow up EPs “Black Label 28” released in December 07 and “Black Label 34” in June 08. All three of the 4 track EPs received critical acclaim from DJs, music lovers and the press alike and earned Jay a nomination for Best Deep House act of 2007 in the Beatport Mucic Awards. As well as his solo EPs on Compost, Jay has also been busy with remixes and collaborations and is currently working with artists including Faze Action, Manuel Tur & Dplay, Roberto Rodrigues, Tj Kong, Robert Owens and labels including Diynamic, Four:Twenty, Glimpse and Juno.
Next to this project under Two Scoops, Jay has also been keeping busy with his upcoming album ‘Seein Sound’, due to be released early November. This will mark Retrofit’s 20th release and the LP is packed with fresh club material. The album will be available on two part 12″ and digital formats. A launch party will take place with special guests at a Berlin venue TBA soon and followed by a world tour.
