A UK-born, Berlin based producer and DJ already made his way through, debuting in 2007 and immediately scoring nominations for best Deep House act artist in the Beatport awards and hasn’t stopped immersing all his talents into dance music since. For our next mix installation, Jay Shepheard presented us with a mix of exclusively original tracks.
Now established as a well recognised staple of the genres, Jay earned his ear for the past and the eye for the future during seven years working at a UK online vinyl store Juno Records. Since his robust start in 2007, he has been touring everywhere from Australia to US as a DJ and presenting his productions in the meantime. His immersion into the dance scene, aside touring and producing his own tracks is witnessed by establishing his own label Retrofit, not to mention Retrofit label events already being planned at London’s Fabric and Berlin’s Watergate and Badaboom Paris.
Talking about his releases, on cannot avoid mentioning his two signature sounding albums, Home & Garden and Seeing Sound released in 2013 and 2014 respectively. He came in strong with his first one, Home & Garden, taking his signature sound out of the club and into the home listening experience getting acclaims from critics and both underground and mainstream names within the industry, Axel Boman, Dense & Pika, Severino, Hot Since 82, Jackmaster and Catz N’ Dogz to name a few.
While Home & Garden offered a soundtrack for setting the perfect afterparty mood, his second long playing project Seeing Sound, is a collection of the right party starting tracks. Working on the albums, Jay had the chance to collaborate along sides other artists including (the late great) Martin Dawson, Iron Curtis, Matthew Burton, Locked Groove, Art Of Tones, Mic Newman, Jaques Renualt and Session Victim.
Jay Shepheard works on labels including Compost, Futureboogie, Freerange, Pets Recordings, Buzzin Fly and many others.
