Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, aka Groove Armada, don’t need much of an introduction. The men behind Groove Armada (DHL Mix) have become a UK institution thanks to the consistently high level of quality electronic music they put out. Groove Armada was formed almost 20 years ago in the mid-90s, initially producing more chilled out grooves but by the early 2000s they’d up the ante evolving their productions to cater for a more dancefloor-based audience. It was during this period, that they really made their presence felt, hitting the UK charts with the anthemic I See You Baby (later remixed by Fatboy Slim) in 1999 and Superstylin’, which hit No.12 in 2001, both of which helped form the foundation of a career that has outlasted many of their peers from the same era.
Following their commercial success the duo traveled the length and breadth of the world, playing clubs and festivals on almost every continent on Earth. Their prowess as DJs never waned, nor did their hunger for the music. In fact, by 2012 Andy and Tom had decided to take a step away from the mainstream and return to their club and warehouse roots, heading back to the studio to record music that had more ‘underground’ appeal. The resulting EP (No Knock) was released on one of the UK’s most respected labels, Hypercolour, and helped give Groove Armada a new lease of life. And now their killer contribution to the new Moda Black V/A has sealed their recognition in the underground house scene.
Moda Black Vol. 3 will hit stores on the 9th of June 2014.
