First ever Future Fusion Festival will be hosting the biggest electronic music festival of the African continent in a scenic setting close to Potchefstroom, South Africa. The first performers promise something to remember, with Carl Craig and Dennis Ferrer taking the stage at this futuristic safari themed event. With 30 more performers to be announced, it seems like Future Fusion Festival is ready to leave a mark on the international festival scene right from the start.
South Africa has long been known to be a country with much love for house music. So much so, that house music is a frequent sighting on the top of the best selling music listings of the country. With a rising interest in the global scene for their style of the genre, known by many names such as afro house or kwaito, it was only a matter of time when we would start hearing more interesting news about the festival scene of ZA. Taking the world by storm, the news came in that Future Fusion Festival will be the biggest festival in electronic music ever to hit Africa.
The first Future Fusion Festival will take place from the 24th to 26th of April and promises to bring together both local and international acts. Taking place on the outskirts of Potchefstroom, a town some 120km South-West from Johannesburg, the setting for the event is one of a kind. Described as a mountainous, the area will pack top tents, forest areas, sunken dam arenas and even “the smallest club in Africa”. Not only focusing on top-notch music, the event also caters to the tastebuds looking for African treats. We’re drooling already…
First two artist announced in phase one are Carl Craig and Dennis Ferrer. With both the Planet E label boss, and the head of Objektivity already on the bill, we can’t wait to hear the 30 remaining names coming up. The festival will feature acts “past, present and future”. Experiencing local talents side by side with international acts sounds truly interesting, something which will be very hard to find anywhere else.
To top things off, guests from abroad can get 50% off their tickets. All you need to do is register to the event and email rick@futurefusionfest.com for more details.
Accommodation at Future Fusion Festival site will be in the forms of camping, glamping, on site accommodation and chalets. There are also lodges, guesthouses and hotels close by at area around Potchefstroom. The festival will operate on a token based payment system on the grounds.
Further info will soon be released on the event’s website. Tickets can be bought here. We’ve already had a glimpse at the rest of the line up and it looks awesome. Keep an eye out!
