Some people are just born to make music. Parisian Chris Carrier is one of those people. For more than a decade monsieur Carrier has released over one hundred records and remixes for a variety of labels. Although not as popular as he should be, Carrier is revered by connoisseurs as one of the most gifted producers in the dance scene.
Even at a young age Chris Carrier loved a wide range of musical styles. All sounds that his father brought him up with. His heroes Quincy Jones and AC/DC could be heard a lot in the Carrier Residence. But when Chris got introduced to the 90’s techno rave-scene he knew he wanted to actualize his own musical destiny. First he learnt to DJ, and not much later he perfected the art of producing to get ahead in the game.
Because the Frenchman has never limited himself to one genre; dabbling in house, minimal, techno, electro and more; Carrier has been dropping records on a huge list of imprints: Get Physical, Combustible, Taka, X86, Robsoul, Soweso, Apollonia, Highway Records, Hudd Traxx and Direct Art are just some of the labels that have worked together with him.
But what would a producing mastermind be without his own label. Therefore Carrier has established not one, not two, but three labels of his own, Adult Only, Adult Only Shape and Sound Carrier. Charting artists like Amine Edge, Droog, Phil Weeks, Boris Werner, Shonky, Kabale und Liebe. The 00’s have seen the star rise to the forefront of his home country’s electronic music scene and making a name for himself abroad. Efforts have been made to penetrate the US market, with gigs in San Francisco, Las Vegas and Miami. Europe’s clubbing capitals have been just as eager to book him, having performed in London, Paris, Madrid and Amsterdam, to name a few places.
Chris Carrier can be seen at two events during ADE. First up is ‘Soweso & We Dig. Music present’ on October 17th at Amsterdam’s latest venue addition on Leidseplein: Beat Club, the first ever club from the infamous Be-at.TV where live-streaming will bring an extra dimension to the Amsterdam clubbing experience. The rough Techno Taverna will be his second playground, two days later on October 19th, at Amstelhaven. Press play and listen to this killer mixtape, to catch a glimpse of what this all-rounder has got lined up for us next week.
