From Apple’s, Music Memos is billed as a pre-DAW sketchpad, where users can work out ideas to later expand on with software like Garageband or Logic Pro. Put simply, Music Memos can record high-quality, uncompressed audio through the built-in iPhone mic, or connect an external microphone. The app is optimized for acoustic guitar and piano, and it works with other musical instruments, too. To take it a step further, Music Memos automatically analyzes basic arrangements and can suggest chords played for each track. You can also hear how your music sounds with a realistic virtual drummer and bass player jamming along.

Soundbow | Download

SoundBow is a drawing based music instrument with a clean and simple visual interface. Create music by drawing curves over the screen. Your gestures will be remembered and played back continuously. Each time your ever-looping gesture hits a string, a sound is produced. Apart from drawing, you can experiment by moving the strings around freely to rescale your instrument. Record your own sounds through the microphone and start creating melodies, soundscapes with your own voice. If you wish, you can also export your composition as an audio file.
