This native Italian, but Berlin based duo needs no introduction. Mind Against started in 2011 and barely 3 years on they are the crown jewel of the Life and Death label. Life and Death, the core label of Mind Against has a peculiar concept. For those not yet familiar: the music sounds overwhelmingly ominous with a psychedelic sensibility to it. It’s a concept that maybe seems less peculiar after exploring the musical backgrounds of its founders Manfredi Romano (aka DJ Tennis) and Greg Oreck, one half of New York house duo Thugfucker and partner Matteo Milleri from Tale of Us. After just a few releases it became clear that this is a sound that would quickly find its way to the cream of the underground dance scene.

In 2012 and 2013 they have also composed several remixes for, amongst others, WhoMadeWho, Art Department, Róisín Murphy, Green Velvet on labels such as Kompakt, Cocoon Recordings, and Vakant.

Mind Against’s sound is quite difficult to describe or even comprehend, but we dare to say that their mixture of house and techno strikes as very deep, trippy and, most of all, provocative. When they play it’s a sure thing that one can lose themselves in the music and travel to distant universes. With or without the help of substances we might add.

This podcast has been recorded at their gig at Life and Death’s Showcase during the most massive event for electronic music – Amsterdam Dance Event. For those who couldn’t make it to the party, and for those who were there and loved every minute of it, we give you Mind Against.

Watch out for DGTL this week as they will announce their line-up for the 2015 festival in April..
