Leftwing & Kody, aka Jon Kong and Chris Aidy, return to Anjunadeep after “Deep In”, their epic contribution to last year’s label compilation, with “Tell Me”. You can hear the driving, bass-infused house track here first.
Leftwing & Kody grab a sound from the past and bring it right up to date with their own stylistic flourishes. They derive their influences from old-school UK garage releases from labels like Nice n Ripe, Swing City and 500 Rekords. The results are jacking grooves, swinging hats, hooky, low slung synths and monstrous basslines that have been bringing heat to UK dance floors for a couple of years now.
“Tell Me” sees them develop the wide-ranging sounds that have been released on labels as diverse as Exploited, OFF and Suara, channeling throwback progressive influences to great effect. Cascading synths rain down over a surging bassline, with ethereal vocals adding a sophisticated touch to this peak-time monster.
