Horizon and Kaap A’dam, two event organizers from the Amsterdam scene with a knack for up-and-coming & extraordinary artists, are touching down on the beloved Woodstock beach venue in Bloemendaal for one of the final, sun-laden summer celebrations under the musical guidance of three superbly selected acts, including revered Trouw resident Job Jobse, all-round selector Mr. Ties and disco/italo fanatics Discodromo.
Discodromo has been making name for themselves by shaking up labels such as BPitch Control, Dissident and Slow Motion for over eight years with their signature sound, which is, next to house and techno, heavily influenced by Italy’s biggest export in the 80s: italo. Discodromo however have taken the genre’s poppy foundation into something darker and more suitable for today’s musical landscape. As showcased in their 2012 track “Argento”, and in the mix below.
Independent of one another, Giacomo Garavelloni and Giovanni Turco spent time in nightclubs though the 90s where they gained a deep understanding of house and techno. It was only a matter of time before they crossed paths, at which point they immediately realized they were in love, with music! Their combined passion and knowledge of myriad musical mutations was the perfect basis of their new DJ partnership. By 2008, the duo relocated to Berlin, and their stylistically diverse sets have led to bookings in a wide array of clubs: the infamous Panorama Bar in Berlin, Rex in Paris, Cielo in New York, ageHa in Tokyo and Sónar festival in Barcelona, to name a few.
In 2009 Discodromo have teamed up with Berghain resident DJ Boris to create CockTail d’Amore, a monthly party that’s become a fixture in Berlin’s gay scene and in 2011 the boys have expanded the venture into a record label as well. Most recently, CockTail d’Amore happens regularly also at Lux in Lisbon.
