How did you find the collaborative process with GU? Did you find them to be supportive of your vision of the mix, as an artist?
Yes, I had complete freedom and they supported my vision from day 1. After submitting the rough mix, Andy Horsfield founder of Global Underground sent me a message on skype and he said he how much he enjoyed listening to the mix. That literally put a smile on my face.
What do you think this mix means for your career?
Well. it means a lot to me, it’s a next level thing for me and being the next Iranian after Deep Dish who got to release a full mix compilation on such respected label means I’m on the right track. It’s just the beginning of a great journey and it also helps me share my musical taste and my DJing skills with the whole world.
Speaking of your career, your roots are in Iran. I’m wondering if you can give any insight into the scene there?
There is no electronic music scene in Iran, artists and talented musicians try to stay updated online and perform at local workshops.
You’ll be in town (Amsterdam) for the big GU 20 event at Q Factory (which, I will definitely be in attendance)? How do you see this event unfolding?
It’s gonna be amazing. For those who have been following GU for a while and want to enjoy listening to a wide range of electronic music it’s gonna be a perfect event to attend. I’m sharing decks with great GU artists including Sander Kleinenberg, James Lavelle to name a few and playing back to back with my good friend Dave Seaman.
Finally, what is one thing you’d like the world to know about your GU Nubreed edition?
GU Nubreed 09 is how I feel about electronic music, a musical journey that I have been on for the past 15 years of my life all put together in 2 CDs, so all I can say is enjoy the ride and have fun listening!
“Nubreed 9: Habischman” is now available on Global Underground
