DGTL is outdoing itself again in creating excitement for its two day festival by adding a special opening night. This year, the extra kick-off event will take place in DGTL’s indoor homebase: the awe-inspiring Scheepsbouwloods, famous for its annual DGTL ADE parties. And by lining up 5 rare breeds in electronic music, DGTL makes sure there’s no excuse not to start your DGTL adventure on Friday night, April 3rd.
The Scheepsbouwloods has been the stage to many of the organization’s indoor events because of the perfect combination of the raw, industrial setting and killer underground line-ups. The yearly DGTL ADE events have created some unforgettable collaborative label nights, like Hot Creations/Jamie Jones’ Paradise, Kompakt and Life And Death, spawning a selection of the finest artists from those imprints.
For its DGTL Festival opening spectacle on April 3rd, the organization has picked a mouthwatering selection of five artists whom you initially might not relate to each other that easily, which makes it all the more daring and exciting on a musical level. Topping the bill is one of UK’s most innovative artists Four Tet, whose signature sound revolves around relentless percussions and dissonant bass lines. Next up is superduo Mount Kimbie, who for this occasion will not be playing live but an actual DJ-set, While the soul-laced globetrotting electronic act Dark Sky will be appearing for a live set.
There will be a couple of acts from Dutch soil as well. Firstly there are the three key figures behind Dekmantel, Dekmantel Soundsystem, who will be rocking one of their eclectic sets, but not before Amsterdam promise Young Marco has blown away the crowd with his blend of obscure disco, African house. With all these different sounds in the same place, we know that this is going to be something special.
