Another festival on the very unique very special festival radar Riding in the wake of a blinding inaugural edition, next year’s SXM Festival takes place March 15-19. Taking place on the picturesque Caribbean island of Saint Martin, this year sees an even richer programme.

The fist names bringing an array of the top names in the form of Ricardo Villalobos, joined by fellow minimalists of the Romanian house style RPR Soundsystem (Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu, Raresh), as well as the brilliant Âme (live), Nina Kraviz and the African rhythms melding Black Coffee, and Lee Burridge with a big bunch of his All Day I Dream favourites: Bedouin, Bob MosesYokOoMaher Daniel and our next-in-line in the DHA mix series BehrouzFur Coat.

The Island of Saint Martin is a real escape, little internet connection and blissful ocean views, awe-inspiring sunset and sunrises, intimate jungle soireés, and a diverse local culture to explore. Elegantly scattered around the island the SXM festival holds several unique stages, including Palm Beach, the white-sand main stage; Maho Beach, where you can drink and dance directly beneath planes as they land on the island; Loteri Farm, a secret jungle retreat with huts and infinity pools; and Kontiki Beach, a fully decked out beach bar – sip cocktails and dip your toes.

Aside from the weighty musical offerings, festival visitor will be able to dive into the exquisite, fresh local cuisine; revel in the jumble of French, Dutch and Caribbean culture on the island; and get involved in a wealth of other activities including kite surfing, mountain biking and water-sports. All that is offered can be seen in this out last year’s after-movie:
