The summer in Amsterdam will again be sprawling with festivals. A steady name in the season is Buiten Westen, which promises to be another fine get together of thrill seekers, hot artists, festival cuisine and carnivalesque attractions. At the ZeeZout stage we can expect a range of great house artists. One of them is Amsterdam legend GERD, who has been making excellent beats since most of us were still in diapers.
For the ones who like their beats old-school, you should definitely pay GERD a visit. This Amsterdam-based trailblazer is a connoisseur of the Chicago and NY house sound, and not shy to take it all the way back to the disco era or even play some afro when he feels like it.
Super productive, rather outspoken, ever restless and a key figure in the Amsterdam scene since the nineties. GERD is as comfortable with crafting classic house bangers (as NY Stomp) as he is Chicago indebted tracks (as Geeeman) and deeper fair under his given name on labels like his own reliable 4Lux, as well as Clone, Aus and many others. Such versatility in the studio also makes him a much in demand remixer, live act and DJ, with people everywhere keen to get their own slice of the magic that has produced a number of seminal tracks in the past. In fact, so hot was his ‘Palm Leaves‘ track that verified legend Larry Heard was moved to remix it.
Just recently he released his higly anticipated NY Stomp EP ‘I Feel It Comin On’, which is making waves around the globe at the moment. Its four tracks are proof of this man’s capability to lay down some serious house bangers. No surprise that he kicks his mix off with the title track. Prepare to boogie after hitting play on this one!
