The School of House opened its doors this year, and offers a private, in-house education by guest speakers, influentials from the scene and renowned institutions such as Hogeschool Amsterdam, Fontys and ROC. The program consist of both theory and practice. Students learn about management issues as well as creative matters. The lessons are taught at the ID&T Nachtlab in Amsterdam and partly at industry locations as; festivals, clubs and agencies. The aim is to share knowledge and inspire students to work as a professional in the field of Dance.
On June 24th their ‘Event & Organization’ course will start. In this course, students will be trained and prepared to become professional event organizers. They will learn from the very best in the Dutch scene, with guest speakers including the likes of Duncan Stutterheim (ID&T), Daan Spoek (Voltt, 5 days off), Tom Veldhuis (DGTL) and Sjoerd Wynia (Club AIR) and more. The speakers/lecturers will all give their vision of what ‘the perfect party’ should look like. Furthermore, other professionals like bookers, stagemanagers and creatives will talk about their careers and what exactly it entails.
Next to these lectures, students will get weekly assignments that will eventually led up to their final project: the conceptualisation and implementation of your event – from the first sketches, to the budget, to even the script of the aftermovie.
