Only 58 more days to go until DGTL Festival 2014 will take place in Amsterdam during the Easter weekend. Be there when some of the most acknowledged organizations in the industry will send their finest underground electronica soldiers into the battlefields at the NDSM Docklands. Armed with some of the most contagious weapons of mass eruption, the artists are equipped to come, see and conquer – not only your oozy auditory canals, but also that hidden place in your brain where you store the most exceptional memories. Located on the waterfront of the city harbour, DGTL Festival has chosen the perfect site to kick off the Dutch outdoor festival season, with two days of festival madness, six stages endowed with explosive sound systems, 81 invited top-notch artists and over twelve thousand thrill-anticipating attendees on fb.
In our “DGTL Stages” series, DHA will each week provide a recommending outlook on the different stages at DGTL festival 2014. Last week we took a look at the notorious German electronica labels Kompakt and Innervisions. This week we will present you both Digital stages as well as the Crew Love stage.
Digital Stage, Saturday 19th of April
At the Digital area, a fine selection of hot acts from all over Europe will be presented to you throughout the weekend. John Talabot from Barcelona, who was responsible for many itchy toes with his hit ‘sunshine’ in 2010, will kick-off the evening with his slow-moving and ebullient house music. French DJ and producer Agoria will take over the set and presumably transform it into his epic metamorphosis of dub and acid that takes techno beyond the place where it started. Mathew Jonson from Germany will enrich the evening with a live set. His characteristic voice offers a rare fusion of pop intensities and nuanced musicality. Zurich based Deetron, who is familiar with rocking Dutch crowds, as we had seen in Trouw last October, will entertain the scene combining his love of house, classic techno, electro, latin and jazz influences. Before Amsterdam’s hometown boy Job Jobse will conclude the evening with his frenetic sounds, William Kouam Djoko, another Amsterdam local, will give an energetic live set in which he usually incorporates live vocals with a super contagious stage performance.

Crew Love Stage, Saturday 19th of April
Join the crew and feel the love: Crew Love is a family unit, consisting of brothers from different mothers. The squad has grown over several years, encompassing artists that key Crew Love members Wolf + Lamb and Soul Clap have met along their travels on the road. They will drop by in order to play those tunes that let the sun shine into your heart – even on cloudy days. Soul Clap and Wolf + Lamb, who run the label and are renowned for killer house and disco sets laced with pure soul, will smoothen the way for their homeboys Pillowtalk, Tanner Ross and Navid Izadi. Bound by a love of music that exists beyond the world of typical dance music – the blues, indie rock, roots reggae, r‘n’b, hip hop – the members of Crew Love are down for playing records that are deep, melodic, feel-good and ready-made for the dance floor: In their live sets, PillowTalk create irresistible pop from an underground perspective, Tanner Ross is famous for dealing in sun-splashed jams and Navid Izadi is about to channel the spirits of Prince and James Brown…
Digital Stage, Sunday 20th of April:
After already lining up an impressive collection of DJs from all over Europe on Saturday, the Digital team spared neither trouble nor expense for closing the festival on Sunday. Wales born globetrotting producer Jamie Jones, who turns his hand to a variety of styles while still maintaining a strong signature techy sound is one of the big headliners today. Hot Since 82 is another big hitter this day, with his tantalizing grooves and big bass lines. Berlin based duo Pan-Pot, that turns conventions on their heads as they plumb the deep and uncharted depths of pitch-black techno and tech-house. Then there’s Benoit and Sergio, who will drop one of their fine live sets. The French-American duo describe themselves with the words: “We don’t make dance tracks – we tell stories!” Nough’ said. Another hot artist waiting in line is Ben Pearce, the key representative of the UK’s deeper side of house music. Our own Elias Mazian will drop the funk as well on this day. A pretty epic combination of artists of different backgrounds, but put together will undoubtedly make this stage one of the most wanted places to be. One thing is for sure: you will see us front row at this one.
Stay tuned for more info, stages and artists!
