Ibiza is not short on club nights new or old, but braving the island for a decent looking season of parties in 2015 is Love The Underground Records. It is a label with a big reach that has released a wide remit of sounds from some top artists, all under the stewardship of taste making label founder Mikaela, who hails from Russia and has played many headline gigs in Ibiza as well as around the world. She is also a revered producer who’s debut EP Max Destruction which did just what it promised to.
The season for this crew kicked off with a reportedly excellent warm up party at Sankeys on June 3rd with Yaya, Stacey Pullen, Lilith, Mikaela and Artslaves, but tonight it gets going properly. The venue for all this is Tox, a 350 capacity venue with very intimate atmospheres, killer sound and lights and lasers.
“I am very happy that we are bringing something a bit different to the island, which is a great underground focused line-up in a very intimate place,” has the label boss said herself. “Big clubs have their place of course, but I think we need more exclusive intimate places like Tox, which definitely brings us, the artists, closer to the crowd. I love being connected to my fans – that intimacy is really important.”
As soon as we arrive, that intimacy is clear as people are already dancing up close and personal with each other and with the DJs. The label boss herself lays down the standout set of the night. Her own strict no vocals policy ensures that she has to pick her beats carefully, and it shows – every single one is spot on, with tough drums and soulful synths all shooting out of the speakers and into our ears. The atmosphere is fully vibe throughout the night and the likeminded crowd ensure that is so.
Butch, Marco Bailey, Miguel Bastida, Ramon Tapia, Sam Paganini and Wade are just some of the stars lined up to join Mikaela between now and September 26, so it looks like this small, compact and bijou party might just be one of the hottest tickets in town this season.
